The album was recorded following years of Belew playing as a supporting guitarist for Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, and shortly after his 1981 debut as the new lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of King Crimson. It features musicians and repertoire from Belew's pre-King Crimson band, GaGa. A video was produced for the track Big Electric Cat, shot in New York City and opens with a shot of the World. Songs similarly explore Belew's fascination with raw animal nature: Big Electric Cat the album's obvious single is exactly that, howling five-stringed felines over a propulsive Afro-funk beat, and Animal Grace is its less frazzled companion. But Belew can also be gentle, exploring guitar synth ambience on Naive Guitar and even performing a duet with his four-year-old daughter Audie Belew on The Final Rhino. Track Listing. Adrian Belew born December 23, 1949 as Robert Steven Belew is an American guitarist and vocalist and sometimes drummer, pianist and bass player, perhaps best known for his work as a member of the progressive rock group King Crimson, which he first joined in 1981. He has also released a number of solo albums for Island Records and Atlantic Records, and has worked with many other musicians.
