Written and produced entirely by the group, the album was recorded in 1975 at Kendum Recorders in Burbank, California. The group implemented many acoustic and electric instruments during its recording, including guitar, piano, and synthesizer. Primarily a funk and soul outing, The Heat Is On features musical elements of rock music, and it is. Agnetha became one of the four members of the group ABBA in 1972, one of the two female lead singers. During her time with ABBA, she released another album, a compilation album and a few singles as solo artist. She also released a Christmas album with her daughter Linda in this period.
