The follow-up to Unitxt and Univrs pairs pendulous minimal techno and electro rhythms with wide, sheer electronic drones in a way that strongly recalls recent Monolake output as well as Ilpo Väisänen in full swang. Comparisons aside, though, its unmistakably Alva Noto. Pursuing the projects roots in the dancefloor of Tokyos UNIT club to a satisfyingly logical endpoint, Nicolai rolls out 12 typically mercurial yet gripping sound designs. Alva Noto's new album Univrs will be released on Raster-Noton on October 17, 2011. The album follows on from and develops the concept of the album Unitxt Raster-Noton, 2008.
