Arran Poole - North. This, the debut release from Tabula Rasa Records, is a semi-improvised drone piece by UK-based composer and sound-artist, Arran Poole. It represents the first in an ongoing series of releases in which Poole will explore the potential of an unusual musical instrument called a bow chime. This strange instrument, which uses a cello bow to resonate a large sheet of stainless steel, is used in this work to produce deep drones, which have been complemented by field recordings, strings, and a Wurlitzer electric piano.
