The Barbra Streisand Album is the debut album by Barbra Streisand, released February 25, 1963, on Columbia Records, catalogue CL 2007 in mono and CS 8807 in stereo. It peaked at 9 on the Billboard pop albums chart, and has been certified a gold album by the RIAA. The album won Grammy awards for Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance. Barbra Streisand sang at San Francisco club, the Hungry I hungry i or Hungry Eye in 1963. Above: The exterior of the hungry i was faithfully recreated in detail for the 2014 movie, Big Eyes. The hungry i was a night club in San Francisco located in the basement of the International Hotel at Kearny and Jackson streets in the North Beach district.
