After the demise of Pentangle, Jansch recorded the album in Tony Stratton-Smith's home in Crowborough, Sussex and in a studio in California. It was produced by Michael Nesmith with the exception of two of the tracks Chambertin and former bandmate John Renbourns Lady Nothing which were recorded in Paris a year earlier. A short film was produced during the sessions in Sussex. Turnaround by Bert Jansch, released 22 November 2018 The first of a diptych of albums recorded in and influenced by Berts time in America. As the title suggests, this album was something of a contrast to Janschs usual style - taking in swathes of Nashville-infused pedal steel to sparkling effect. By 1973 Jansch was in semi-retirement following the demise of Pentangle. While he had continued to record solo work during their career his efforts had become intermittent and somewhat desultory. Signing to Tony Stratton Smith's Famous Charisma label saw him experience something of a renaissance.
