You cant make a record like The White Album if youre arguing, he says. Julia Theres a version where John plays for my dad and hes trying to work out whether to fingerpick it or strum it, and you hear them having a conversation. No one even knew this existed, because it was on the back end of a tape with no name on it. Cry Baby Cry We have the acoustic version which John sings for the Esher demos, and then theres a version on the outtakes which is almost like Pink Floyd. The final mix we did actually sounds more like the demo in some ways. The Beatles Esher Demos: The Lost Basement Tapes That Became the White Album. The groups jovial May 1968 home recordings mark the last time they sounded like true friends. Ringos a quiet presence, though you can hear him bray away on Bungalow Bill. Yet the vibe is friendly its like the White Album minus the hostility, which might mean its nothing like the White Album. The Beatles spent five agonizing months making the White Album, often splitting up to work in separate studios. The fighting got so ugly Ringo quit for a week. In many ways, the Esher demos are the last recorded moment of the Beatles as a band. The original album seems so perfect, the idea that it would need any enhancements at all seemed odd. Even the inclusion of Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane, which were recorded during the same era, felt a bit out of place. The extras were interesting, but not essential. The legendary Esher Demos, recorded at Harrisons house in Esher, Surrey, are a blast. Beacons by Cloudkicker, released 16 September 2010 1. We are going to invert. Here, wait a minute Damn it 3. We're goin' in. We're going down. Oh, god. I admit it now. I was scared. We were all scared. Push it way up. This album sounds like the soundtrack to an epic sci-fi action movie that hasn't been made yet. The whole thing is perfectly paced and larger than life in an apocalyptic sort of way. I probably will never get tired of Oh God. Favorite track: Oh, god. Grandasse I really like albums where the tracks form a whole. I like this coherence, as well as the mix between unstructured rhythms and soaring melodies. Favorite track: Push it way up
