Glass House 0:00 2. Go To Hell 2:56 to My DNA is the third studio album by Blackfield, a musical collaboration between Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen. It was released in Europe on 28 March 2011, and released in the US on 19 April 2011, as a digi-book CD and heavyweight vinyl limited to 2000 individually numbered copies. Almost all of the songs were written by Geffen, as Wilson had been working on his second solo album, Grace for Drowning, at the same time. On Welcome to My DNA, their third studio album, Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson of Blackfield continue to pursue their neo-progressive Pink Floyd-meets-Tears for Fears sound, overlaying it with doom-ridden imagery. The Pink Floyd influence is overt in the slow-paced soundscapes and echoey vocals, though at times Blackfield pick up the pace and even rock a bit, notably on Blood, which has a Middle Eastern rhythm at times. The lyrics can be philosophical, as the singer ponders existence, but they also can be simple and repetitive, if still negative. Welcome To My DNA is a music studio album recording by BLACKFIELD Prog RelatedProgressive Rock released in 2011 on cd, lp, vinyl andor cassette. However, the real strike against Welcome to My DNA is the puerile lyrics, which sort of grumble their angst-filled way from song to song. Some of them are genuinely bad, others are offensive, some noticeably poetic, but mostly they're just boring. After liking Blackfield's first album and loving their second, I was actually expecting quite a lot from their third effort. The preview clips sounded promising, the cover art is nice enough and the pseudo-concept-album vibe it has going on are all things that pointed to, in the pre-release weeks, a solid follow up to 2007's excellent Blackfield II. But as you can see by that less-than-perfect rating at the top of this review, something did go very wrong here. And the main problem is something that I never expected from this band it's generic.
