Album

Third album New Improved from a classic rock band Blue Cheer released in 1969. Enjoy in this album and Blue Cheer music generally, which is, as many Improved is the third album by American rock group Blue Cheer. Released in March 1969 by Philips Records, it is their first without original guitarist Leigh Stephens. The album features songs recorded by two different group lineups: in addition to bassist and vocalist Dickie Peterson and drummer Paul Whaley, side one includes Bruce Stephens no relation to Leigh on guitar and Burns Kellogg on keyboards while side two includes Randy Holden on guitar and vocals. Songs in album Blue Cheer - New Improved 1969. Blue Cheer - When It All Gets Old. Blue Cheer - West Coast Child Of Sunshine. Blue Cheer - I Want My Baby Back. Blue Cheer - Aces 'n' Eights. Blue Cheer - As Long As I Live. Blue Cheer - It Takes Alot To Laugh It Takes A Train To Cry. Blue Cheer - Peace Of Mind. Blue Cheer - Fruit & Iceburgs. Blue Cheer - Honey Butter Lover. Blue Cheer - All Night Long. New Improved Blue Cheer. Serving as a transitional record with two different lineups on each side, New Improved showcases the band's drift into progressive psych with short-lived guitarist Randy Holden and a commercial hard rock sound ala Steppenwolf or Iron Butterfly with the new quartet lineup, a far departure of the rawer hard rock of the first two albums. New Improved Blue Cheer-Here's my own personal Exhibit A for THE exemplary and archetypal late sixties hard rock LP, all on the strength of the jaw-dropping virtuosity of Randy Holden deployed on side two of the disc for us LP era listeners who were there to experience it back in the day. Later LP's found Blue Cheer finally adding a decent vocalist in Gary Yoder, who definitely added some luster for their last two albums, though they never came anywhere close to New Improved again in my estimation. Unfairly maligned as Stoner Rock I think this music deserves to be heard and enjoyed-MARVELED at-in our 21st Century. Improved Blue Cheer. Released 1969. New Improved Tracklist.
