Bruce Springsteen - Tougher Than the Rest Official Music Video - Продолжительность: 6:34 Bruce Springsteen 66 on a Dream. At the end of the Magic sessions, Springsteen found himself still writing songs. Encouraged by producer Brendan OBrien, he recorded during breaks on tour, exploring a classic pop sound for an album release coinciding with Super Bowl XLIII and the inauguration of President Barack Obama. The Last Carnival pays tribute to E Street organist Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008. Released . Working on a Dream as made famous by Bruce Springsteen - The Hit Makers. Working on a Dream is the richest of the three great rock albums Springsteen has made this decade with the E Street Band - and moment for moment, song for song, there are more musical surprises than on any Bruce album you could name, from the Chess Records vocal distortion on the bluesy Good Eye to the joyous British Invasion pep of Surprise, Surprise. Producer Brendan OBrien seems to have shaken something loose in Springsteen, who by the Nineties was so focused on his ever-more-novelistic lyrics that melodies and chord changes could feel like an afterthought. From its bright, brittle production to its tossed-off postage stamp cover art, Working on a Dream is in every respect a companion piece to Magic, an album that's merely a set of songs, both sprawling and deliberately small, songs that don't necessarily tackle any one major theme but all add up to a portrait of their time. Magic chronicled the dog days of Bush where Working on a Dream is designed as a keynote to the Obama age, released just a week after the inauguration of the U. s 44th president and not coincidentally containing not a little optimism within its 13 tracks. Working on a Dream was recorded with the E Street Band and features 12 new Springsteen compositions plus a bonus track: 'The Wrestler'. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album. Springsteen also wrote an eponymous song for Darren Aronofsky's 2008 film The Wrestler. But because it was made piecemeal, the album is also patchy. Queen of the Supermarket is Springteen kitsch, while Life Itself is more solemn than life itself. But for every slight misjudgement, there are three chugging, muscular ballads of the spirit of which Roy Orbison would have made much. And no politics. Pick of the album: 'My Lucky Day': top-notch jackhammering. Download the new Independent Premium app. Sharing the full story, not just the headlines
