Perfect from Now On is the third full-length album released by Built to Spill, and the band's first major label Warner Bros. It was recorded at the Avast Recording Company in Seattle, Washington by Phil Ek. Stylistically, the album was marked by its experimentation with longer song structures, philosophical lyrics, and the incorporation of cello. The line-up for the we explore Built to Spills winding, monumental 1997 album Perfect From Now On. This feels like the way to think about Built to Spills Perfect From Now On, which began its life being compared to avatars of the former but gets to spend eternity as an exemplar of the latter. Theres Nothing Wrong With Love the second album Doug Martsch had made with a revolving cast of bandmates under the name Built to Spill, was of its time. Perfect from Now On is the third album by Built to Spill, and the bands first major label Warner Bros. The album was essentially recorded three times. The first time, Martsch attempted to play all the instruments except drums. He and Phil Ek were dissatisfied with the results, so Martsch brought in Nelson and Plouf and recorded the album again. However, these tapes were destroyed by heat when Ek was driving from Seattle to Boise to record additional overdubs. The band rehearsed some more, then recorded the album a third time. Perfect From Now On is Built to Spill's third album and gained widespread attention when it was released in 1997. A long vast & epic voyage through 8 noise shifting songs. Das Album Perfect From Now On brilliert mit den Titeln I Would Hurt A Fly, Made Up Dreams, Kicked In The Sun. Perfect from Now On manages the amazing trick of being one of the band's best albums, with Martsch and company using the opportunity of larger budgets and distribution to create an album at once inspiring and quietly emotional, not the easiest combination to pull off. With drummer Scott Plouf and bassist Brett Nelson as the other core performers, plus second guitarist Brett Netson and cellist John McMahon as key guests, the result is astounding all around. Describing Built to Spill's music is a really, really tough task. Their earlier records stood in the middle of a midwest-emo and a Pavement-influenced sort of thing with some depressing, more reflective lyrics and themes, but after Perfect from Now On, the band took a complete left turn from an aesthetical point of view. On this album, the group delivers these lenghtier, incredibly detailed rock songs that would influence many acts years later Modest Mouse being one of the biggest names to. read more
