Album

Caetano Veloso is the debut solo album by the artist of the same name, released in Brazil in 1968. He had released Domingo the year before in collaboration with Gal Costa. It was one of the first Tropicália efforts, and features arrangements by Júlio Medaglia, Damiano Cozzella, and Sandino Hohagen, as well as an eclectic assortment of influences, demonstrating the antropofagia artistic cannibalism of the Tropicália movement. Sounds from psychedelia, rock, pop, Indian music, bossa nova, Bahian. Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso. To non-Portuguese speakers, Caetano Veloso might not sound anywhere near as transformative as the other albums of that year: Electric Ladyland, The White Album, White LightWhite Heat, Anthem of the Sun, A Saucerful of Secrets, to name just a few. Couched in lush orchestral strings suggestive of the generation prior instead of the psychedelic production effects of the moment, its a sound thoughtfully strummed on an acoustic guitar. Página oficial do cantor e compositor Caetano Velosos 1968 self-titled debut wasnt actually his first album: A year earlier, the Brazilian singer-songwriter had released the bossa nova-laced Domingo with vocalist Gal Costa which included the deliriously beautiful Coração Vagabundo . What a difference a year makes. Velosos solo debut is another beast entirely-a swaggering primal yawp that floats, bare-chested, through Brazilian beaches and the sertão, past a brutal colonial history and a gum-cracking pop-culture present, pulling psychedelic rock, samba, and much more into its orbit. We figured Caetano Veloso had to be the first of our new album guides, which will pick out eight of the best albums by a single artist or group. Here we look at the albums of Caetano Veloso, one of the greatest songwriters of Brazil, and most probably, the world. Our only problem has been winding the list down to eight, meaning that some great albums dont get a mention. Velosos first self-titled album, released in 1967, set out to give Sgt. Mittwoch, 5. September 2018. Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso 1968. Caetano Veloso's first album as a solo artist marked the birth of the culturally revolutionary tropicalia movement, of which Veloso and Gilberto Gil were the leading figures. The concept of the movement was to modernize Brazilian popular culture and, through creative music and poetry, reflect the Brazilian society as it appeared at the time. Veloso and other tropicalistas mixed traditional Brazilian popular music primarily with international pop culture and psychedelic rock, but they would incorporate practically anythin
