Freak Show is the second studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair. It was recorded during MayNovember 1996 and released on 4 February 1997 by record labels Murmur and Epic. It was nominated for the 1997 ARIA Music Award for Best Group, but lost to Savage Garden. Silverchair began recording their second studio album, Freak Show, in May 1996 while experiencing the success of their debut album, 1995's Frogstomp, in Australia and the US. Freak Show is a 1990 studio album and a series of related works by The Residents, an experimental and enigmatic group of musicians and performers. It marked the beginning of The Residents' obsession with emerging computer technology in the 1990s, and much of the music was made with various MIDI devices. The interactive Freak Show CD-ROM was released in 1994 a Freak Show stage performance by a theater company at the Archa Theater in Prague premiered on November 1, 1995 and there was a Freak Show. Jesus Freak is the fourth studio album by the band DC Talk and was released on November 21, 1995 on ForeFront Records. The style was a marked departure from the group's previous releases, incorporating a heavier rock sound and elements of grunge that was popular at the time. The album was released to both critical and commercial acclaim. It peaked at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and six of the album's seven singles reached number one across various Christian radio formats. It won the 1997 Grammy. Freak Show - The Residents. Freak Show is a concept album detailing the stories of a number of different characters within the titular travelling carnival freak show. Following the success of the album, this concept was expanded to include multimedia projects such as a graphic novel and a CD-ROM. After the Cube-E tour, The Residents were feeling de-spirited. The last leg of the tour had been plagued with problems and they'd been feeling more and more. Silverchair were slaves to their influences on their debut Frogstomp, but on their second album Freak Show, they're beginning to show signs of developing their own style. While they may still concentrate too heavily on Pearl Jam and Nirvana, they're beginning to fuse the elements together in a more interesting way and are writing stronger hooks. Track Listing.
