It was then re-released in May 2005 with new full-color artwork and 4-page booklet. Converter is the brainchild of Scott Sturgis, a one-man electro-consortium. Originating in Ohio, but now based in Seattle, Converter began in early 1998, when a growing interest in rhythm-drive sound inspired Sturgis to pursue a rhythmic noise-based project. Scott Sturgis' second CD release as Converter, Blast Furnace, picks up where Shock Front left off. Both releases are aptly named - Shock Front was a constant force of percussive noise, but Blast Furnace has gone a step further with the structured sound of metals twisting out of shape.
