Album
Static is the second studio album by American indie pop band Cults, released by Columbia Records on 15 October 2013. Of the album's title, band member Brian Oblivion said, There's a feeling our generation has. The feeling there's always something better around the corner, that everyone is born to be a star. The feeling that life is waiting for you, and yet its not happening. All of that is static. Oblivion has also said, I've fallen in love with the idea of static over the last we were. Static - Cults. However, what ends up making Static a sophomore slump for this indie buzz alum is its serious lack of single power. What did you think of this album Love it. Released after extensive touring, Cults' sophomore album sidesteps presumptions about a rising, major-label band and finds contentment not in what they could be, but what they are right now. Static - Fairly Good, Based on 20 Critics. New Musical Express NME - 80 Based on rating 45. Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivions use of echo, fuzz and well-chosen spoken-word samples transformed their fairly standard indie-pop songs into something a lot more unsettling. The duos follow-up, Static, sees them dial down the samples and lyrics about being abducted, to create something a great deal more human. Full Review . The Guardian - 80 Based on rating 45. But the two of them-who ended their romantic partnership sometime before the making of Cults' second album, 2013s Static-certainly know how to turn a bad situation into captivating listening for their audience. The duos gorgeous Wall of Soundstyle pop part Phil Spector, part gothic Cure resonates positively, while the perceived emotional devastation turns lyrics like Should have took the high roadNow my days have all turned black into the voice for every devastated ex-lover.
