Old Growth doesn't get as deep into dark moods and atmospheres, doesn't seem to have the energy or power of the first two albums, a more folk mellow vibe, but still Dead Meadow. While the guitar tones are more clean, there are very interesting textures and dynamics in the guitar sound. I'll be honest, when Dead Meadow's 5th album, Old Growth, dropped in 2008, I was in a completely different mind frame musically speaking. I was playing in a blues rock band and was listening to a lot of older music from the 60's and 70's, so unfortunately, I missed out on this album and didn't really pick it up until a few years later.
