Album

For the Whole World to See is a studio album by the American band Death, released in 2009 and consisting of various demos originally recorded in the mid 1970s. In 1975 the band entered a studio to record a 12-song album. After refusing to change their group's name, Death was turned away by Clive Davis of Columbia Records. Only seven songs were completed and the album was never released. The surviving songs were released the Whole World to See in 2009 by Drag City. Only took 40 years. For The Whole World To See 1975 1. Keep Death, my children Here's what a couple of prominent recording artists say about Death' the Whole World to See. JACK WHITE SAYS: The first time the stereo played Politicians in My Eyes, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. When I was told the history of the band and what year they recorded this music, it just didn't make sense. Ahead of punk, and ahead of their time. MOS DEF SAYS: These dudes were pre-Sex Pistols, pre-Bad Brains, pre-all that shit, and nobody knows about them. I don't understand how the world could for. Songs in album Death USA -. For The Whole World To See 1975. Death USA - Keep On Knocking. Death USA - Rock-N-Roll Victim. Death USA - Let The World Turn. Death USA - You're A Prisoner. The album falls short of a diamond-in-the-rough-caliber discovery, but considering these seven songs are the remains of an aborted 12-song full-length-from a band that reinvented itself every three or four years, For the Whole World holds up well alongside, say, concurrent Blue Oyster Cult or New York Dolls albums. This is the kind of reissue that re-instills faith in today's frustrated rockist, the listener whose fidelity gets tested by a rogues gallery of calculating rock revivalists every year. Armed with profound musicianship and the bona. Recorded in 1974 but buried until 2009, Deaths first album offers a potent reminder that The Stooges and MC5 didnt have a monopoly on Motor City mayhem-nor was that music strictly a white phenomenon. The Hackney brothers come on like a garage band thats ready to raze arenas on Keep On Knocking, and even before punk hit, they anticipate hardcores frayed-nerve insolence on Freakin Out. But the anti-Vietnam invective Politicians In My Eyes is their most furious statement-the missing link between Motown and the Whole World to See Death. For The Whole World To See. Please retry. Death were a black power trio from Detroit who released a single in 1975 and pretty much disappeared after that. Inspired by the raw Rock 'N' Roll of the Stooges and MC5, the three brothers moved away from their FunkR&B roots into a new realm. for the Whole World to See features the two songs from the single 'Keep on Knocking' and 'Politicians in My Eyes' and five other tracks. Drag City. I had to buy the album immediately. Originally recorded in 1974, Death' the Whole World to See is only seeing the light of day now, in 2009, thanks to Drag City. The question that immediately needs asking is why it didn't see release at the time - and I'm not so sure the answer is as obvious as racism. After all, the recording quality's pretty good, so it's not like they didn't have any money or backing at all. What's more likely is poor timing. Death missed out on being part of the frenzied peak of garage rock by three or four. Listen free to Death . For the Whole World To See Keep On Knocking, Rock-N-Roll Victim and more. 7 tracks 26:19.
