Deerhunter is a band which formed in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The band consists of Bradford Cox vocals, guitar, piano, Moses Archuleta drums, synths, Lockett Pundt guitar, organ, vocals, and Josh McKay bass, voca read more. Fluorescent Grey's taut compositions simmer with the doomed purity of Deerhunter's romantic vision. In the world there are so many useless bodies, Cox sings on midtempo Dr. Glass, listing as examples all the couples kissing, the children missing, the corpses rotting. His voice here is measured, accompanied by restrained organ-like loops, plus the usual guitar, bass, and drums. Deerhunter's second full-length, Cryptograms, out in February 2007, was a dull, dry affair, overly obsessed with itself and its image rather than its actual substance, more boring than anything else. For the Fluorescent Grey EP, however, recorded while Cryptograms was being mixed, and issued in April, the band seems to have taken a step away from their über-pretension and actually focused on the music. Fluorescent Grey is an extended play accompaniment to Cryptograms, the second studio release by Atlanta-based band Deerhunter. The EP was released on CD by Kranky on May 8, 2007, and later as a vinyl bundle with Cryptograms. A music video for the track Strange Lights is included with the CD release. The album's cover is a photograph of Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt as a seventh-grader. Its lyrical themes touch on death and the decomposition of the human body-Fluorescent Grey is the name lead.
