A third instrument featured in many of their postwar records is the harmonica of Wayne Raney. Rabon died of lung cancer in 1952, a day after his 36th birthday. Following Rabon's death, Alton suffered a heart attack, the loss of his father and his daughter Susan, all within a three-year period. Delmore Brothers originally released Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar written by Alton Delmore and Delmore Brothers released it on the single Lonesome Yodel Blues in 1933. It was also covered by Chatham County Line, Carl Jackson, Joe Baker & His Barefoot Brakemen, Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard and other artists
