He played with some of the most influential English blues rock and jazz fusion bands of the 1960s and 1970s. Then the smokiness of Lester Young's sound caught him, and the music of tenor saxist Wardell Graybridge, who was the bridge between Young and the Charlie Parker bebop generation.
