By the time Die Kreuzen released Cement in 1991, the musical climate had begun to shift in their favor, as Nirvana was beginning to bring punk-influenced hard rock up the charts. It seems like it would have been a climate that would be more welcome to Die Kreuzen's proto-grunge rock and perhaps it would have been if the band had delivered a more exciting album. Although nothing about Cement is embarrassing, it lacks the spark of their earlier work and makes the band appear as if they were stuck in the '80s.
