Jaku 寂, Jaku is the eighth solo studio album by Japanese hip hop producer DJ Krush. It was released in 2004. It peaked at number 123 on the Oricon Albums Chart, as well as number 16 on the Billboard Top DanceElectronic Albums chart. The album features guest appearances from American rappers Mr. Lif Nosferatu and Aesop Rock Kill Switch, both of whom were signed to Definitive Jux at that time. Jaku album. Just better. Jaku isn't entirely fragile, although the literal translation of tranquility holds consistently true. Decks-athron, with turntablist Tatsuki, finds the two fiercely dueling on the ones and twos, passing through warps in time and space, then coming out on the other side to battle again. Road to Nowhere, with its beats and sleigh bells, could be edged out as a Madlib leftover were it not for the fact that Tokyo's Major Force label did this stuff and released it on Krush's original Mo' Wax home years earlier. Gifted producer & DJ with a superb sense in mixing and composing his sound who's been greatly received in the international club scene. At an early age, Ishii dropped out of school, and joined a local gang, and a few years later, Yakuza. It was the movie Wild Style that got him into hip hop in the early 80's, and in 1987, he formed Krush Posse which made numerous appearances in various media as the best hip hop act in Japan. The more Zen moments of turntablist DJ Krush's Jaku may end up on a yakuza-gangsta flick, but his jigsaw connections between hip-hop and Japanese folk music should be beheld. While the world's cultural barriers of language and geography are gradually shrinking, many Westerners still know little about Japanese urban life but what Blockbuster Video teaches them.
