Bleak and even claustrophobic, Streets of the Ghetto is no glorification, nowhere near celebratory. Instead, the track conveys the realities of the trade while outlining how a person with severely limited options can be lured into it. Streets sets the tone for Roxbury 02119, generally a more serious and tense album than Life of a Kid in the Ghetto. While rap was going harder in 1993 than it was in 1991, Ed O. G's shift is natural with no apparent desire to cash in on the increasi. Backing Vocals Da Bulldogs. Roxbury 02119 Cass, Album, Promo. Chemistry Records Ltd , Mercury. The album was performed solely by group leader Ed O. G and was predominantly produced by Joe Mansfield and labelmate Diamond D. It deals with similar topics as its predecessor, Life of a Kid in the Ghetto, such as the negative effects of drugs and remembrance of lost ones. Roxbury 02119 is titled after the name and zipcode of Ed O. G's birthplace Roxbury. Roxbury 02119, the second album by Ed O. G & Da Bulldogs, is once again a golden age masterwork with basement beats, great samples, and wise lyrics. This is the last album that Edo. G did with the Bulldogs before he began focusing more on his solo career. da Bulldogs made history with their 1991 debut Life of a Kid in the Ghetto, an excellent album that balanced slick East Coast production with socially conscious and relevant lyrics. Songs like the single Be a Father to Your Child advocated social responsibility and reflected simultaneous works by artists such as Main Source, and Ed O. established himself as the best MC from the city of Boston
