"Leaves - The Colour Of Falling is made on commission from Copenhagen Opera Festival who, in collaboration with Sort/Hvid, produced the original performances in an abandoned nuclear emergency hospital underneath the former Copenhagen Municipal Hospital. The performances were staged and directed by Christian Lollike and featured scenography by Marie Rosendahl Chemnitz."

In the summer of 2015 Leaves - The Colour of Falling was performed at 16 sold out nights in the 1000 m2 nuclear basement of the former Copenhagen Municipal Hospital. The opera was commissioned by Copenhagen Opera Festival who produced it in collaboration with the local theatre SortHvid. The scenography was made by Marie Rosendahl Chemnitz and it was staged by Christian Lollike. Karsten Fundal explains his thoughts on Leaves: We wanted to break down the conventions of the opera as a genre. The result is a song cycle about a cult located beneath the ground while the earth might be experiencing its downfall above ground. Alongside the release, Efterklang performed Leaves - The Colour of Falling in a concert version with The Happy Hopeless Orchestra at selected European dates through February and March 2017. Efterklang is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark consisting of four core members Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, Thomas Husmer & Rasmus Stolberg who have played together since 2001.
