Eliane Radigue born in 1932 is a French electronic music composer whose work, since the early 1970s, has been almost exclusively created using a single synthesizer, the ARP 2500 modular system, and tape. Vice Versa is a tape-based drone recorded in 1970, a year before Radigue started working with the ARP 2500, a synthesizer that looks like a telephone switchboard with a keyboard and weighs about 60 pounds. For decades after, she used it exclusively. 1978's Triptych was Radigue's first full composition after dropping out of music to dedicate herself to Tibetan Buddhism in 1974. Though she didn't leave Buddhism behind- her works through the 70s, 80s, and 90s are not only suffused with a sense of contemplativeness and unrepentant nowness, but they're literally based on event. Éliane Radigue born January 24, 1932 is a French electronic music composer. She began working in the 1950s and her first compositions were presented in the late 1960s. Until 2000 her work was almost exclusively created with the ARP 2500 modular synthesizer and tape. She participated in their first album Before the Libretto on the Quecksilber label in 2005. The box contained a reel of magnetic tape and the instructions for use. It indicates that all playback speeds are possible, forward or backward, as well as any combination of two channels, on several recorders, ad libitum.
