It was reissued in 2006 as part of Century Media's 20th Anniversary series of reissues, with 6 bonus tracks, taken from rare 7 records and splits. After being signed to Century Media in the early 1990s, the band began to self-record and produce their first album for the label, and second album total, in Studio 13. Take as Needed for Pain has all of that, but it is also the first to really bring out the Southernblues-rock and Black Sabbath influences in full force. The pain of abuse and addiction, the suffering of man, feelings of being downtrodden are all present here. The atmosphere and subject matter is not the least bit pleasant or uplifting. Despite the gruesome subject matter and ugly instrumentation, Eyehategods music makes me really happy. After all, its hard not to enjoy the attitude of early Misfits albums combined with musical styling of Sabbaths Master of Reality and a heavy dose of narcotics. So why should anyone listen.
