Album

Long Player is the second album by the British rock group Faces, released in February 1971. Among the highlights are a soulful live cover version of Paul McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed, the wistful ballads Richmond and Sweet Lady Mary, the rollicking party tune Had Me a Real Good Time, and uptempo saloon bar rocker Bad 'n' Ruin. Two tracks, Maybe I'm Amazed and I Feel So Good, were recorded live at the Fillmore East, New York on 10 November 1970. Long Player - Faces. On their second album Long Player, the Faces truly gel - which isn't quite the same thing as having the band straighten up and fly right because in many ways this is album is even more ragged than their debut, with tracks that sound like they were recorded through a shoebox thrown up against a couple of haphazardly placed live cuts. But if the album seems pieced together from a few different sources, the band itself all seems to be coming from the same place, turning into a ferocious rock & roll band who, on their best day, could wrestle the title of greatest rock & roll band awa. After introducing themselves with 1970's appropriately titled First Step , the Faces sought to build on that success with their follow-up effort - and they pulled it off in a big way with Long Player. Released in February 1971, the group's second set found the Faces further setting themselves apart from the band members' better-known previous projects: singer Rod Stewart and guitarist Ronnie Wood from the Jeff Beck Group bassist Ronnie Lane , keyboardist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones from the Small Faces. Long Player is the Faces 2cnd studio album finding the new line up more comfortable playing together, if they were uncomfortable on the 1st you certainly can't hear it But so the liner notes tell us. Few Bands project such excitement & energy through their music as the Faces often accused by critics as being loose & sloppy I couldn't disagree more . Released February 1971. Long Player Tracklist.
