Avner Kenner and Yoni Rechter had known each other in high school and had met again in 1974 at The Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. Rechter was a member of Kaveret at the time, and discovered that he had the same musical taste as Kenner. Producer Asher Bitansky managed to get them studio time along with drummer Zohar Levi even though he knew the resulting album would not be a commercial success. In 2008 Kenner and Rechter did a joint concert in which their performed some of the Fourteen Octaves material. It was the first time the two had played together in over 30 years. Apart from playing the keyboard in Kaveret, he formed the progressive rock duo 14 Octaves with Avner Kenner and arranged and wrote songs for leading Israeli singers, among them Arik Einstein. One of the songs he composed for Einstein was Your Forehead is Ornamented עטור מצחך in Hebrew, Atur Mitz'chech. Its first version was arranged by Rechter, and was sung by Arik Einstein with Corinne Allal and Yehudit Ravitz.
