Album
Sinatra 80th: Live in Concert is a live album by American singer Frank Sinatra, released in 1995. The album is a compilation of previously-unreleased live recordings from his concerts between 1987 and 1988. The title is a reference to Sinatra's age at the time of the album's release, not at the time of the performances. The final track, My Way, is an outtake from the Duets album. The album was certified gold by the RIAA. You Are the Sunshine of My Life Stevie Wonder 2:37. By the time this material was recorded, Sinatra's voice had eroded somewhat, as his range had decreased and his voice had become reedier. Nevertheless, his singing was still impressive, as he re-interprets many of his classics in a new light, bringing a fresh emotional slant to many of the songs. Not all of the performances are comparable to some of his previously recorded versions, but all of the songs offer definitive proof that Sinatra was still capable of producing fine music in his 70s. Compared to the class act that was Capitol's Sinatra 80th-All the Best, this haphazardly sequenced collection of live performances is disappointing in the extreme. Though obviously culled from several different concerts dating at least as far back as 1974, the disc's packaging omits specific recording information, trying to pass itself off instead as a recent document of a complete Sinatra concert. Sinatra acquits himself admirably on all 14 of the live numbers, even though his range changes rather noticeably from cut to cu. Frank Sinatra chronology.
