Originally released on the album Memories to Burn Epic. Written by Warren Robb and Dave free to Gene Watson Memories to Burn Memories To Burn, The Note and more. 10 tracks 29:05. Memories to Burn was Gene Watson's first album for his new label, Epic Records. Despite producing a Top Five single, the album failed to chart as high as Watson's previous album for MCA, Little by Little. It's hard to know why since the album is full of good songs, from the outstanding title track to the minor hits Cold Summer Day in Georgia and Carmen. Most of the album consists of shuffles and steel-drenched ballads solidly in the honky tonk tradition, but there are a few departures Watson adds a touch of humor with I Want My Rib Back &quo. My favorite album by Gene Memories To Burn with the absolute best version of The Note. Nobody can touch Genes vocal on that song Tammy Wynette is a close second though. This one comprises Memories to Burn from 1985 and Starting New Memories from 1986, both appearing on CD for the first time. For me, neither album are as strong as some of his earlier releases but there's enough good songs to make this a good listen. Favourites from Memories to Burn are the title track, If I Painted a Picture, and Stranger in our House Tonight. Also on this album is fan favourite Carmen not a hugely strong song to my ears - was it used for a line dance. Memories to Burn. Gene Watson. Released 1985. Memories to Burn Tracklist.
