Album
Live with the Possum is a live album by American country music singer George Jones released on November 9, 1999 on the Asylum Records label. It was Jones's second and final album with Asylum Records and his second ever live album. Recorded in Knoxville on May 21, 1993 at the Knoxville Civic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, it was the soundtrack of a previously released video of Jones in concert called Live in Tennessee. Alan Jackson introduced the set with a short tribute. Ron Gaddis, Jones' bass. Arriving a mere five months after George Jones' much-hyped Asylum debut, Cold Hard Truth - a record that was touted as his return to hardcore country - Live With the Possum, his second Asylum outing, seemed on the surface to be a live equivalent of its studio predecessor, but it's not. It's a rushed, cheaply packaged release that simply replicates the 1994 video Live in Tennessee. Listen free to George Jones Live With the Possum Intro, No Show Jones and more. 16 tracks 48:02. Recorded in 1993 at Knoxvilles Civic Centre it features a spoken word intro by country singer Alan Jackson and is followed by an announcement by Jones that Were going to have a great big time tonight. The show is all showbiz glitz and well oiled live banter. Starting with the novelty song No Show Jones about his late seventies tendency to not turn up for gigs, the setlist then mixes fast country rock romps with ballads.
