Floyd August Gib Guilbeau September 26, 1937 April 12, 2016 was an American Cajun country rock musician and songwriter. As a member of Nashville West, Swampwater, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and later The Burrito Brothers, Guilbeau helped pioneer the fusion of rock and country music in the 1960s. Guilbeau was born in Sunset, Louisiana and raised among fiddle players. His father and brothers played fiddle, and Gib started playing fiddle at the age of fourteen. Gib Guilbeau. Cajun Country. Prior to joining the first reincarnation of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Cajun fiddler, guitarist, and singer Gib Guilbeau made this LP with the legendary guitarist Clarence White and drummerbanjo player Gene Parsons both veterans of the Byrds. Both Louisiana Rain and Sweet Susanna were covered by Nashville West, the short-lived band that the three of them were a part of until the group folded when White and shortly thereafter Parsons departed to join the Byrds.
