Goose Creek Symphony performing Welcome to Goose Creek on the night of their 1991 reunion at the Appalshop in Goose Creek Symphony is an American rock band with roots in Arizona and Kentucky. They were formed in 1968 in Phoenix, Arizona as an outlet for the songs of Charlie Gearheart, aka Ritchie Hart, and were best known for their 1972 cover of Janis Joplin's song, Mercedes Benz. The band recorded their first album at Audio Recorders in 1968-69 and were subsequently signed to Capitol Records in 1970. They continued recording until 1976, then reformed in 1990. The band is considered one of the tightest. Goose Creek Symphony will headline Friday Aug 28 from 8:30-10:30 on Main Street at the River City Roots Festival in Missoula, MT. With a following similar to Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead, GCS blazed trails between a wide mix of rock and roll, folk, jazz and country. Goose Creek Symphony has used horns, fiddles and special effects to create a newly-defined genre of music called Cosmic. Read More. Goose Creek Symphony. Country 1971. Welcome to Goose Creek. Vocalist and guitarist Charles Gearheart aka Richie Hart spent his childhood up Goose Creek Hollow in Floyd County, KY, and when he put together his good-time country-rock group, he drew upon his home's rich musical heritage as well as its name. In 1970, Gearheart and a group of local studio musicians assembled a handful of songs and presented them to Capitol Reco read more. Goose Creek Symphony is a American RockBluegrassCountry band.
