Slave to the Rhythm is the seventh studio album by Grace Jones, released on 28 October 1985 by Island Records. Subtitled a biography in the liner notes, Slave to the Rhythm is a concept album, produced by ZTT Records founder and producer Trevor Horn, that went on to become one of Jones' most commercially successful albums and spawned her biggest hit, Slave to the Rhythm. The Ultimate Collection is a 3-CD anthology of recordings by Grace Jones, released in 2006 by Universal. Although usually listed as a box set, The Ultimate Collection is packaged in a double gatefold cardboard sleeve, and was released by the Dutch label CCM, a subsidiary of Universal Music Holland. CCM had previously issued similar 3-CD sets by artists like Donna Summer, Barry White, Diana Ross, Kool & the Gang, Dusty Springfield and others. The Ultimate is a compilation of recordings by Grace Jones released in 1993. The album would cover the same material as 1985's Island Life, in addition to four other tracks. Jones the Rhythm was the opening track on the album and was one of the eight variations on the Slave to the Rhythm theme, this one more rock-influenced and dramatic than the hit single version, featuring the Ambrosian Singers and symphonic orchestration, effectively serving as the ouverture to the audio-biography.
