Recording sessions took place at Soundtrack Studios, Platinum Island Studios, Battery Studios, V. Dubbs Studios, Acme Recording Studios, Fiber Studios, and Chung King Studios in New York. Grand Puba born William Dixon March 4, 1966 is a rapper best known as a member of the group Brand Nubian. He debuted with the group Masters of Ceremony. Their album Dynamite 1988 was hailed by critics, but probably due to lack of sales the group soon disbanded, and Puba emerged as the lead rapper of Brand Nubian. 2000 is the second album by New Rochelle, NY rapper Grand Puba. It was released in the summer of 1995, three years after his solo debut and four years after splitting with Brand Nubian. The title is a reference to Pubas futuristic flow. The album spawned the minor hit I Like It I Wanna Be Where You Are, but failed to achieve the commercial or critical success of Pubas earlier work. According to his longtime collaborator Dante Ross, Puba had lost the passion for making music: You can hear that he was just trying to get paid. 2000 was Pubas last album with Elektra Records. He reunited with Brand Nubian in 1998, but would not release another solo album until 2001. 2000 Q&A.
