Microshift is the third and final studio album by British rock band Hookworms. It was released on 2 February 2018 by Domino Recording Company. The album's namesake is an audio plug-in. The record is dedicated to Archie, the band's former live sound engineer. The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. When Hookworms reconvened in the new Suburban Home to start work on another album, 2018's Microshift, they decided to go about things differently and incorporate more electronics into the previously guitar-heavy sound. Last year almost 30 releases were recorded at Suburban Home in Kirkstall, the studio run by the bands synth player and vocalist Matthew Johnson MJ. From quirky pop-punk to melancholic grunge, a bit of everything passed through the doors. Over the past few years the space has become a mecca for the DIY scene a place thats affordable, inclusive and inspiring at a time when few studios are. Which is why, back in late 2015 when the building was devastated by flooding, an online fund was set up to help pay for its restora. Genre: Neo-Psychedelia.
