Frequency is the tenth studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band IQ, released in May 2009 by Inside Out Music. Recorded at Aubitt Studios in Southampton and Redbridge Studios in Bolton from June 2007 to February 2009, it was produced by guitarist Michael Holmes. It was the first and only album recorded with new group members, keyboardist Mark Westworth and drummer Andy Edwards, as well as the last with bass guitarist John Jowitt. Frequency is another solid album from the band. There is not much different here from earlier albums in terms of style although they do get slightly heavier than in the past on tracks like The Province. Every track on the disc is good, with Peter Nichols lyrics, as always, evoking themes both worldly and personal. If you like earlier IQ albums you will probably enjoy this one just as much. IQ have never been prolific in their frequency of albums ho ho, and the album has been in the making for two years off and on, so I was hoping the wait was worth it, and not as I feared a shadow of former glories. Well, I can now relax, the wait was worth it
