One track from the Stix album reappears, but otherwise Day is one stuffed EP of new sounds from the Norwegian jazzers Jaga Jazzist. The first half of the EP is taken up by glitchy and light remixes plus the new track Two Things, one of the most laptop-sounding, non-jazzy numbers the unit has ever produced. It's a precious keeper, but like the remixes it's more an interesting diversion than a full-on Jaga classic. The live tracks on the EP's second half are where the band really shines, especially on the busy Another Day. Jaga Jazzist also known as Jaga is a Norwegian experimental jazz band, that rose to prominence when the BBC named their second album, A Livingroom Hush Smalltown SupersoundNinja Tune, the best jazz album of 2002. The core of the band are the brothers and the main songwriters, Lars and Martin Horntveth. Since Day was never one of my personal favorites among the wide array of material available on The Stix it didn't really make much sense to me as a single. Compared to the previous album's marvelous Animal Chin this is a pretty average composition for Jaga Jazzist that doesn't really say much about the band nor their style. Naturally the composition didn't appeal to me any differently on this release than what it did previously although I did manage to enjoy the prolonged remix version of the track more than what I anticipated
