Jimmy Rogers. Chicago Bound. Guitarist Jimmy Rogers was usually overshadowed by the leaders he worked for, Muddy Waters particularly. He was also sometimes confused with the hillbilly singer Jimmie Rodgers, and although they might have sounded good together, they don't have anything in common. These are the Walters, big and little, as in Big Walter Horton and Little Walter. Pianist Otis Spann, bassist Willie Dixon, and drummer Fred Belew are also on hand, meaning the rhythm section action is first class. Chicago Bound 1976. To favorites 0 Download album. Listen album. Jimmy Rogers June 3, 1924December 19, 1997 was a blues guitarist best known for his work as a member of Muddy Waters' band of the 1950s. Jimmy Rogers was born James A. Lane in Ruleville, Mississippi, and was raised in Memphis. Rogers learned the harmonica alongside his childhood friend Snooky Pryor, and as a teenager took up the guitar and played professionally in East St. Louis, Illinois where he played with Junior Lockwood, before moving to Chicago in the mid-1940s after serving in the military. By 1946 he'd made his first record as a harmonica player and singer for read more. His Best is a greatest hits album by Chicago blues harmonica player Little Walter, released on June 17, 1997 by MCA and Chess Records as a part of The Chess 50th Anniversary Collection see 1997 in music. The album is seen as the CD successor to the 1958 The Best of Little Walter and features ten of the songs from that album. Juke was Little Walters first solo recording for Leonard Chess and reached 1 on the R&B Singles chart. A harmonica instrumental, it is Walter's most famous composition. Little Walter and Big Walter Horton, what they play on these tunes could do to your speakers what the country yodelling does to the Martian Brains in Mars Attacks Unassailable. This 1976 album is the best collection of Jimmy Rogers' classic Chess sides, and the list of sidemen reads like a who's who of 50s Chicago blues: Muddy Waters, Fred Below, Willie Dixon, Otis Spann, Little Walter, and of course Big Walter Horton, whose reputation as the eternally unequalled King of the blues harmonica is only enforced by his mind-altering
