Originally recorded in 2005, the Rory Feek-produced album includes memories and stories from the singer and her family. Released on April 7, Not for You is the debut studio album by British-Australian singer-songwriter Olivia Newton-John, released in November 1971 by Festival Records. The album was released on the Pye International label in the UK as Olivia Newton-John, with a slightly different cover. As a covers album, If Not for You features mostly songs previously recorded from contemporary artists of the 1960s and early 1970s. The original album, now titled If Not For You came out in stores a few days ago and is available everywhere I'm told: Walmart, Target, Cracker Barrel, etc. and it's so beautiful. I was given the chance to write the liner notes. So for 48 pages, I let the stories of the songs tell Joey's story. From Nothing To Remember, the very first song we ever wrote together. To the title track If Not For You that Joey's good friend Sandy Lawrence wrote. Joey and Sandy worked together at the horse-vet clinic at the time and both dreamed of maki. Joey Feek recorded an album called Strong Enough to Cry for Sony Nashville in 2005 but the label chose to shelve the record after a company restructuring. Twelve years later, the album appeared under the title If Not for You on Farmhouse Records. The occasion of its release was the year anniversary of Joey's death from cervical cancer, a tragic story made worse by how her duo with husband Rory was on the rise. Rory is all over If Not for You, as is co-producer Bill McDermott, but the focus is firmly on Joey's honeyed voice.
