I first heard this recording of Bach's Missae Breves by Ensemble Pygmalion online via AVRO Classik a classical station in the Netherlands. The Ensemble's director is Rafael Pichon who is a twenty-something French musician who produces the most sublime Bach performances I have heard in many a year. By contrast this 2015 recording of BWV 234 and BWV 235 makes use of larger resources and the result feels less arduous and earnest than the Purcell's performances.
