Midnight Snack is the second studio album by Canadian recording project Homeshake. It was released on September 18, 2015 through Captured Tracks-affiliated record label, Sinderlyn. Described as an indie pop and electro-R&B record, Midnight Snack emphasizes the R&B influence evident on previous recordings, adding drum machines and synthesizers along with the live drums and guitars. The first album from wild talent John Kruth is about as mixed a package as can be imagined - the musical styles wander through folk, avant-garde jazz, rock, spoken word, medieval music, and some pieces that defy categorization. The songs are sometimes oblique, sometimes direct, and always odd there is hardly a conventional track on the album. This isn't to say that they don't connect emotionally, though. Midnight Snack is the musical brainchild of brothers John and Mike Johnson. They started the project in 2009 in rural Harwinton, Connecticut, and the next year moved to Boston, MA to study at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, the Johnson brothers started playing their songs with several of their closest friends, and these friends very quickly transformed into what is now the Midnight Snack family.
