Album
Some Time in New York City is a part-studio, part-live double album by John Lennon & Yoko Ono, with the American rock band Elephant's Memory & Invisible Strings. Released in June 1972 in the US and in September 1972 in the UK on Apple Records, it is Lennon's third post-Beatles solo album. Like Lennon's previous solo albums, it was co-produced by Lennon, Ono and Phil Spector. The album's lyrics are very politically charged compared to its predecessors, discussing political and social issues and topics. JOHN LENNON The. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей John Lennon. Whole Lotta Shakin'It'll Be Me. John Lennon's determinedly topical double album 'Some Time in New York City' was released on June 12, 1972. Without universal themes that could resonate across generations, Some Time in New York City tends to come off as empty proselytizing. The sentiments were too brittle, and often all edge - the result, no doubt, of their rushed creation. Even Lennon eventually came to see the folly of this kind of freeze-dried creativity. Au Lyrics. About Some Time in New York City. Often labeled as one of, if not the, worst of Lennons solo albums, this was John and Yokos last collaboration with producer Phil Spector. With one disc of studio material and one of live recordings from the Fillmore East, Lennons third album has been criticized for its less than subtle political messages. Some Time in New York City Q&A. Artist Yoko Ono. Primary Artists John Lennon & Yoko Ono. John Lennon's 1972 album, Some Time in New York City, was a genuine & heartfelt attempt to make pop music meaningful in a way few artists attempt to do. If John LennonPlastic Ono Band was a soul laid bare, and Imagine was some more of the same, with chocolate coating then Some Time in New York City is pure politics, with almost no one spared the Lennons wrath. Now all this makes it sound like a serious record, and it is, but it is also a record that has great tunes, half of which are written by John and by Yoko together. But here Lennon and Yoko, accompanied by New York's Elephant's Memory, sing and scream freely against sexism in Woman Is the Nigger Of The World and Sisters, O Sisters. They protest incarceration in John Sinclair, Attica State, and Born In A Prison, colonialism in Sunday Bloody Sunday and The Luck Of The Irish, and racism in Angela. The richness of Phil Spector's production fills out the danceable grooves on nearly every track. John Lennon - Sometime in New York City 1972. Lennon albums. Some Time In New York City. 1 2 3 Next. The album was borne of the vitality Lennon felt after moving to New York City. Well nobody came to bug us, hustle us or shove us So we decided to make it our home If the Man wants to shove us out we gonna jump and shout The Statue of Liberty said, Come New York City Some Time In New York City. New York rejuvenated Lennon, both personally and musically, and he swiftly wrote a number of songs about his experiences.
