Album

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on May 10, 1972, by Columbia Records and continues in the tradition set by his recent studio releases of covering mostly current chart hits. A trio of selections on side one Love Theme from 'The Godfather' Speak Softly Love, Theme from 'Summer of 42' The Summer Knows, and Brian's Song The Hands of Time originated as film scores and had lyrics added later. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is a 1957 folk song written by political singersongwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who was later to become his. Текст песни: The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave To the dark and the endless skies, my Fuller's production of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face for Johnny Mathis is a pleasant and much-needed change in sound, as his same formula continues - songs of the day mixed in with movie themes. Unfortunately, this change in sound was not utilized to its full potential. Al Capps arranges five of the 12 tunes, including the title track and Love Theme From 'The Godfather' Speak Softly Love. There are exquisite shades and added depth to the production, though the song order is a little questionable. Theme From 'Summer of '42' The S. Johnny Mathis. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is a 1957 folk song written by British political singersongwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who would later become his wife, to sing. At the time the couple were lovers, although MacColl was married to someone else. Seeger sang the song when the duo performed in folk clubs around Britain. During the 1960s, it was recorded by various folk singers and became a major international hit for Roberta Flack in 1972, winning the Grammy Award for Record of the Year
