"The History Of My Life Is In My Songs"
This version comes from a 1960 recording session in London, for Capitol/EMI Records.

"Blue Butterfly" Public Domain
"Hang Onto A Rainbow" DaSilva Brown Henderson ASCAP
Sung "live" on sound stages in Burbank, at First National/Vitaphone Pictures (a division of Warner Brothers) for two shorts ("A Holiday In Storyland" and "The Wedding Of Jack And Jill"). These songs, from November-December 1929, are the earliest known solo recordings of Judy Garland.

"When The Butterflies Kiss The Buttercups Goodbye" Public Domain
Also from "A Holiday In Storyland" is a rare chance to hear The Gumm Sisters in harmony.

"The Land Of Let's Pretend" Polygram International ASCAP
From the short "Bubbles" featured the trio (The Gumm Sisters) singing as moonmaidens. Judy has a one-line solo in this number.

"Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" Harms Inc. ASCAP
Her second appearance on NBC's "Shell Chateau Hour", November 16, 1935, shortly after her October 26th national radio debut on the same program.

"Stompin' At The Savoy" EMI Robbins/Rytvoc Inc/Razaf Music/Jewl Music ASCAP
This is Side "A" of Judy's first released record, made for Decca Records on June 12, 1936, two days after her 14th birthday, during her first trip to New York.

"Everybody Sing" EMI Robbins Catalog Inc ASCAP
From "Broadway Melody Of 1938", Judy's first MGM feature film. "Everybody Sing" is from her very first Decca recording session, August 30, 1937.

"(Dear Mr. Gable) You Made Me Love You" Broadway Music Corp ASCAP
From "Broadway Melody Of 1938", originally sung to Clark Gable at his 37th birthday party and was Judy's first hit record, recorded September 24, 1937.

"I'm Feelin' Like A Million" EMI Robbins Catalog Inc ASCAP
The song is from "Broadway Melody Of 1938", although Judy doesn't sing the song in the film, she made this rehearsal recording in the late summer or early fall of 1937.

"Over The Rainbow" (with Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg) EMI Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
A "dramatic recreation" of composer Harold Arlen first teaching Judy the song - from the June 29th 1939 "live" radio broadcast of NBC's "Maxwell House Coffee Time".

"Over The Rainbow" EMI Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
The song's first recording, made for the movie "The Wizard Of Oz" on October 7, 1938. This movie, in time, made her an icon and introduced her signature song, which won the Academy Award.

"All The Things You Are" Polygram International ASCAP
She sang this song on February 13, 1940, on the "live" broadcast of NBC's "Pepsodent Show Starring Bob Hope".

"I'm Nobody's Baby" EMI Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
Judy's "Hardy Boys" character, Betsy Booth, sings this tune in "Andy Hardy Meets Debutante". This Decca records version, recorded April 10, 1940, climbed to #3 on the charts.

"For Me And My Gal" EMI Mills Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
In 1942, Judy made "For Me And My Gal", her first above-the-title solo billing and first romantic role. Gene Kelly made his film debut here, at Judy's insistence, after his triumph as Broadway's "Pal Joey". She and Kelly recorded the title song for Decca on July 26, 1942. It reached #3 on the charts in January 1943.

"The Trolley Song" EMI Feist Catalog, Inc. ASCAP
From "Meet Me In St. Louis", the song became another Oscar-nominated Garland trademark tune. This is the Decca "Cast Album" recording made on April 21, 1944, which also reached #3 on the charts.

"Liza" WB Music Corp/The Songwriters Guild ASCAP
Radio appearance recorded on November 12, 1946, for ABC's "Philco Radio Time's Bing Crosby Show" as an 8-month-birthday present for her daughter. It is the only time Judy sang the opening verse.

"I've Got You Under My Skin" Chappell & Co. Inc ASCAP
A return visit to the Crosby show recorded on February 19, 1947, her only recording of this great song.

"Over The Rainbow" (with Al Jolson and Oscar Levant) EMI Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
From NBC's "live" September 30, 1948 radio broadcast of "The Kraft Music Hall Starring Al Jolson". Although they had worked on his program 10 years earlier, this is the only known recording of "Judy and Jolie". Here they each sing her theme song in between wisecracks by Oscar Levant.

"Get Happy" Remick Music Corporation/S A Music Co. ASCAP
On March 15, 1950, Judy had her last recording session at MGM, singing "Get Happy" for her last Metro movie, "Summer Stock".

"The Man That Got Away" New World Music Company/MPL Communications Inc ASCAP
The Oscar-nominated "Man That Got Away" was recorded at Warners on September 4, 1953, and best represents the "concert era" voice of the early 1950s.

"Swanee" WB Music Corp ASCAP
From the song's June 1954 recording session you'll hear - for the first time - an "outtake," as Judy's legendary laughter gets the most of her.

"Danny Boy" Hal Leonard Corp ASCAP
In 1955, Judy released her first studio LP for Capitol Records, "Miss Show Business". It was a companion release to her first TV special. The album's version of "Danny Boy" was recorded on August 30, 1955.

"Come Rain Or Come Shine" Chappell & Co. Inc ASCAP
The second Capitol album, "Judy", was a tie-in with her second CBS-TV special in 1956 and the first time she worked with Nelson Riddle. "Come Rain Or Come Shine" recorded on March 31, 1956.

"How About Me" Williamson Music Co. ASCAP
"Me And My Shadow" Bourne Co/Larry Spier Inc ASCAP
In 1957, Judy recorded "Alone", one of the first concept albums and her third Capitol release. These two songs were recorded February 5, 1957.

"Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" Harms Inc. ASCAP
"Judy In Love", her first release in stereo, was an upbeat antidote to the somber songs of "Alone". Nelson Riddle crafted an arrangement of "Zing!" that's vastly different from the 1935 version. It was recorded on May 19, 1958.

"Who Cares (As Long As You Care For Me)" New World Music Co. ASCAP
Her album "Judy! That's Entertainment" includes this June 9, 1960, recording of "Who Cares?".

"You'll Never Walk Alone" Williamson Music ASCAP "Happiness Is A Thing Called Joe" EMI Feist Catalog Inc ASCAP
Along with preparing the concerts at the London Palladium, Judy recorded the 2-album stereo set "Judy In London" at EMI studios in 1960. "You'll Never Walk Alone" is from the August 3rd session. Her tribute to son Joe is from the August 5th session.

"I Can't Give You Anything But Love (Baby)" The Songwriters Guild ASCAP
"Rock-A-Bye Your Baby (With A Dixie Melody)" EMI Mills Music Inc/Warock Corporation/MPL Communications Inc ASCAP
Capitol Records released a 2-LP set containing all twenty-five songs she sang at her most famous concert ever, "Judy At Carnegie Hall". Both selections come from this magical night of April 23, 1961, one from each act: a ballad and a "socko" number.

"Smile" Bourne Co ASCAP
One of Judy's definitive moments, taken from her one appearance for British television, the "live" March 10, 1963, telecast of "Sunday Night At The London Palladium".

Disc 3 & 4 contain some favorite moments from her own weekly variety TV series on CBS, "The Judy Garland Show". Judy completed 26 episodes for the 1963-64 season (videotaped on Stage 43 at CBS Television City in Hollywood). Nearly half the songs are ones Judy sang only on the series, and half are making their "digital debut" on CD. (Show numbers refer to the order in which they were recorded.)
