Before bringing in Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity were known as the band Jimi Hendrix first performed with upon arriving in England. Rolling Stone gave high praise to both the jazz-prog album Streetnoise and Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity's self-titled 1967 debut. Despite the potential, Driscoll, Auger and the Trinity would break up within months of Lester Bangs' glowing review in Rolling Stone. Driscoll would later marry jazz Keith Tippett and perform under the name Julie Tippetts, collaborating with Robert Wyatt and Robert Fripp along the way. Auger formed. Julie Driscoll sings with sultry soul and Brian Auger and band play up a storm. There is an originality at work here as well. This band shows its influences, sure, but they have been assimilated into a unique style and sound that is as pleasing as you'd want. 0 out of 5 stars A real trip back into the future JULIE DRISCOLL & BRIAN AUGER did a fantastic job on this psychedelic disc from 1967.
