Album
Point of Know Return is the fifth studio album by American rock band Kansas, released in 1977. The album was reissued in remastered format on CD in 2002. The album's title along with that of the title track is a play on point of no return. The recording sessions for Point of Know Return commenced in June 1977 at Studio in the Country, the Bogalusa, Louisiana facility where Kansas' precedent two albums were recorded: due to the band encountering equipment failure at Studio in the Country, Kansas. Once carried through the current and being swept away The king is in the closet, he's hiding from today And though he owns all fortunes, this room is where he'll stay And his world is filled with darkness, turning grey Gazing out the window of the 42nd second floor He is separate from all others, no one knocks. Once proud and full of passion, he fought the cause of man Many people loved his courage, many followed his command He changed the old into the new and the course of things to come And then one day they noticed. Point of Know Return is a song by the progressive rock band Kansas written by Steve Walsh, Robby Steinhardt, and Phil Ehart for their 1977 album Point of Know Return. It is written mostly in combinations of 44 and 34 time signatures, phrased as 4443 in the verses, a 44 pre-chorus and the main chorus phrased 7744 74 time. It has been re-released on many compilation and live albums, including The Best of Kansas, The Kansas Boxed Set, The Ultimate Kansas, Sail On: The 30th Anniversary. Closet Chronicles is probably in the top 15 or 20 of their discography. Of course Dust in the Wind is probably the favorite of casual fans but it's one of my least favorite of the entire recording. I suggest that you not buy the 2002 remaster but buy this first issue because the remaster on another page sounds horrendously bad. Point of Know Return, Kansas' most commercially successful album, benefits greatly from the digital remastering treatment it received. The differences between this CD and the original issue can best be detected through headphones.
