Kerbdog are a heavy rock band from Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland who began writing in 1991. Their music has been described as an unbending alloy of matt-black, titanium-tough metal and shimmering melody. in contrast to compatriots U2's fake authenticity and the tyranny of soul espoused by Van Morrison. A tribute album entitled Pledge: A Tribute To Kerbdog was released on 8 March 2010, via the Derby based record label, Stressed Sumo Records. Kerbdog played the Temple House Festival in Sligo on 11 June 2011, also playing a gig at the Set Theater in Kilkenny on New Year's Eve 2011, at which 'Wilt' reformed for a few songs on the same nightstage. Kerbdog also sometimes known as 'Totally Switched' for the US release is Kerbdog's eponymous debut album. The album was recorded in 1993 at Rockfield Studios in Wales and released on 28 March 1994 through Vertigo. Though the band had various indie influences, with bands like Sonic Youth and Big Black, the album ended up having a Metallica influenced proto-grunge sound. The band said that this was simply the result of getting professional equipment, and turning everything up as loud as they could.
