KWAKU BAAH & GANOUA - TRANCE LP Condition: Used. Time left: 23d 11h 48m 41s Ships to: Worldwide. Kwaku Baah, together with producer Mim Scala, met the Ganoua in a rambling old palace in Tangier the music was spontaneous, an expression of joy which remained true to the essence of Ganoua culture. The result of that meeting is Trance, the first time the music of the Ganoua had been captured on record. The Ganoua musicians used instruments which have remained unchanged for hundreds of years, including the Gimbri a three-stringed lute made from wood and leather, Cocobars iron castanets and Bindir a tambourine drum. The album Trance is the music of a separate reality. Hope to see you there. Rebop Kwaku Baah. LP - Island 9491. Ganoua Ensemble. Ben Mohamed Zain. Abdellcada Zef Zef. It is also an artifact of a now-distant time, when hippies with an intellectual bent could pilot Land Rovers around Africa looking for both new sounds and a proprietary buzz to go with the music they'd discovered. In between his stints with Traffic and Can, Reebop Kwaku Baah entered into collaboration with musicians from the Ganoua or G'noua, a mystical sect resident in North Africa whose roots may be traced across the Muslim diaspora to the Sudan
