When listening to the album I keep falling into a mood of relief, acceptance and easiness. It's soft sounding, pleasing to the ear and mind and comes with an ambiance that resonates serenity. The musical and lyrical arrangements throughout the album feel like the acknowledgement and realization that one made an upright decision on uneasy things - to let go of the concerns and worriedness. Seemingly telling the listener to forget and in the end, to move on Daniel von Appen. Based in Manchester, Last Harbour are an expansive collective featuring an array of classical instrumentation as well as guitar, bass and drums. From dusty laments to doom-filled rock, from starkly beautiful duets to drifting clouds of looped noise, there's always an intensity that strikes hard. SUNDAY TIMES: Magnificent. MOJO: exhibit so much literary dexterity and multi-instrumental skill you feel almost duty-bound to surrender. UNCUT: Bewitching. DROWNED IN SOUND: Rich and foreboding tracing a thread back to the post-industrial s. From: 'After The Flatlands' - a collection of early 4- & 8-track recordings from 1999 to 2004. That night, after the show and a good amount of quality local lager, we slept on tiny thin mats in a dance studio next to the venue, woken at an unreasonable hour by that morning's dance class. It's a glamorous life. Thanks to Roman for all his hard work on the show, and to Petr Baroch for initiating the Czech shows.
